VOLUNTEERING
GGCA Volunteering
At Gilfach Goch Community Association (GGCA), our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Quite simply, we could not deliver the range of provision we do without them. Their time, energy and commitment help us provide vital services and create a welcoming, supportive space for the whole community.
We are proud to hold the Investors in Volunteers Award Investing in Volunteers, recognising the high standards we meet in how we recruit, support, train and value our volunteers—ensuring everyone feels appreciated, respected and truly part of the team.
Why volunteer with GGCA?
Volunteering with us is more than giving your time, it’s about feeling connected, valued and inspired. Whether you can spare a few hours or commit more regularly, there is a place for you here.

Volunteer Roles
We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities across the Association, offering something to suit everyone’s interests, skills and availability:
Trustee Role – Play a key part in shaping the future of the GGCA. As a Trustee, you’ll help guide our vision, support decision-making and ensure we continue to grow and serve our community effectively.
Early Years - Support (Messy Monsters Day Care) and gain hands-on experience working with young children in a nurturing, play-based environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to support early development, build key childcare skills and explore a potential career in early years.
Playscheme, After School Club & Youth Club – Support children and young people in a fun, engaging environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to help build confidence, inspire creativity and positively influence young lives.
Arts & Crafts, Pottery & Cookery Groups – Get involved in hands-on sessions, supporting participants while enjoying the activities yourself. A great way to connect with others in a relaxed and creative setting.
Allotment & Community Garden – Enjoy the outdoors while helping to grow and maintain our shared green spaces. This is a rewarding opportunity to support sustainability, learn new skills and contribute to a project that benefits the whole community.
General Maintenance – Help us keep our community space safe, welcoming and well cared for. Tasks may include cleaning, painting and decorating, and general upkeep of the building.
Reception Support – Be the friendly face of our busy Community Centre. Assist with day-to-day tasks, welcome visitors and help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Bespoke Roles – At the GGCA we understand that everyone’s situation is different. We are always happy to work with you to create a bespoke volunteering role that suits your individual needs, interests and availability, helping you get the most out of your experience while making a meaningful contribution.
No matter which role you choose, you’ll be part of a supportive team where your time and contribution are truly valued.

Create a more vibrant, inclusive and welcoming environment

Respond to local needs with flexibility and care

Strengthen the connection between the centre and the people it serves
Quite simply, volunteers help us do more, reach further and support better.
The difference for our community
When you volunteer with GGCA, you are helping to build something much bigger than any one role.
Your time helps to:
-
Reduce isolation and bring people together
-
Create safe, positive spaces for children, young people and families
-
Support community wellbeing and resilience
-
Strengthen local pride and connection
-
Inspire others to get involved and give back
It’s about creating a community where people look out for each other and feel they belong.
A place where you’ll feel welcome
We understand that starting something new can feel daunting, but from day one, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive team who will guide you every step of the way. You don’t need previous experience – just enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to get involved. Many of our volunteers stay with us for years because of the friendships they build, the confidence they gain and the difference they see themselves making.
