The Community Association is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity which is managed by a board of trustees / directors. The principal activity of the company is 'to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community in Gilfach Goch and in particular the advancement of education, the promotion of good health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness'.

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

GILFACH GOCH

Gilfach Goch is a proud former coal mining village located in Taff Ely, within Rhondda Cynon Taf, bordering Bridgend County Borough, and set between the Ogmore Valley to the west and the Rhondda Valley to the east. Established in 1996, Gilfach Goch Community Association was created by the community, for the community. Originally focused on children and young people, it has grown into a welcoming, inclusive hub offering a wide range of services, projects, classes, and activities for people of all ages and abilities—where everyone is welcome. For nearly 30 years, the Association has been a consistent and trusted presence, with its reach now extending beyond the village into wider areas of Rhondda Cynon Taf and neighbouring Bridgend, with some programmes attracting participants from as far as Cardiff.

Our work reflects the diverse needs of the community, offering everything from recycling initiatives, swap shops and food bank provision to early years support, after-school clubs, playschemes and youth activities. We also provide groups and services for older people, mental health support, a Men’s Shed, access to Citizens Advice, and inclusive activity programmes for individuals with disabilities. Working closely with partner organisations, we aim to ensure people can access the right support at the right time. At heart, we are a true ‘one-stop shop’, with inclusivity embedded in everything we do—and if we can’t help directly, we’ll always connect you with someone who can.

How to find us

On entering Gilfach Goch from Bridgend, turn left past fire station and Community Centre is on the right. If coming from Cardiff way, once past playing fields (on right) and Hendreforgan Primary School (on left) turn right and Community Centre on right. Car Park is located next to the playing fields.
