Gilfach Goch Community Association 2015

Established in 1996 as a company limited by guarantee with Charity status, Gilfach Goch Community Association works in partnership with a number of organisations to include the Communities First Partnership and Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council to provide the many services and activities detailed on our website. 

Located at the main junction into Gilfach Goch, the Community & Recreation Centre is currently open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Thursday and until 7pm on Fridays. The centre offers a wide variety of activities to suit all requirements, as well as hosting a number of key services. The centre also provides a number of venues ideal for parties and functions.


Jan 2015 - Station 13 Employability Training  

Improve your employment chances and gain qualifications with an exciting five-week training course delivered by the South Wales Fire Service (the course is aimed at improving employability skills and not to become a fire fighter)

Anyone interested in this great opportunity must be unemployed for more than 6 months and live in a household where currently no-one is working. Food, Transport & Childcare costs paid

March 2015 - Employability Course 

Another great opportunity to Improve your employability and gain qualifications, the employability course starts on Tuesday 10th March and will be  from 9am to 3pm 3 days a week.

The 4 week course is a chance to gain 7 qualifications in total including First Aid, Food Hygiene, Communication Skills and Customer Services. The course is open to anyone over 16 and currently unemployed

30th April 2015 - Employment & Training Fayre

Following on from the success of last years Fayre, the centre plays host to its second Employment & Training Fayre organised through the Communities First Prosperous Communities Initiative.

Taking place this year on Thursday 30th April, the Fayre is an absolute must for individuals currently seeking employment, the event is FREE to enter and includes Job Training & Opportunities, Careers Advice & Guidance as well as a range of "Have a go" Activities

Jan 2015 - Looking to start up your own Business...??

Looking to start up your Private Business or perhaps you have considered setting up a enterprise for the benefit of your local community. Whatever your ambition, GGCA through the Community 1st Prosperous Communities Programme, are currently running Business and Social Enterprise sessions at the Gilfach Community & Recreation Centre

Business & Enterprise Drop-in session are available 9.00 to 11.00am Mondays and Tuesdays and from 1.00 to 3.00pm on Wednesdays or alternatively contact Julian on 0844 8099 155

Jan 2015 - Valleys Community Stress Clinic (VCSC)

Following the setting up of VCSC in May of last year, this January sees the relocation of VCSC to a new purpose built venue within the centre where we  will be looking to provide community access to treatment for a range of conditions to include Phobias, Anxiety, Compulsive Disorders and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Set up as a Social Enterprise, VCSC recently won the Daily Mirror New Business Award for Wales will offer a range of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as well providing Stress Workshops for groups and organisations

Jan 2015 - Gan Dynnu Art & Design

Also opening to the general public in January 2015, Gan Dynnu is another exciting Social Enterprise which looks to  raise money for Community Projects through the sale of Art related products

Mikeys range of products currently includes Portraits, Murals and Graffiti Art, samples of which can be seen on the Gan Dynnu Web page

2015 sees the GGCA continuing to support sports and general activites at the centre with hall hire staying at just £15 per for the second year running. The centre will also continue to support local activities and organisations who provide activities for all the family

Jan 2015 - RCT Sparks Ladies Netball junior & Senior sessions........

RCT Sparks Ladies Netball are currently working with the centre to run Ladies Netball sessions for both Junior and Senior Players

Running on a Wednesday evening initially from 7pm to 8pm for juniors and 8pm to 9pm for seniors, the sessions welcome anyone interested in taking part.

Whether your Looking to lose a few Christmas pounds or looking to get in shape for the summer, Sleek & Chic now also meet every Thursday Afternoon from 1pm to 2pm at the Cwm Gwyrdd Medical Centre as well as their existing session on a Wednesday at the centre from 9.30am to 11.30am

In a relaxed, Informal and friendly atmosphere the group offers Healthy Eating Information, Cookery Taster Sessions and Fun Physical Activities all designed to help you feel good and look your best

Jan 2015- Cariad Crafts, a new enterprise for social inclusion

Watercolour Class - Mondays 9.30am to 12pm

Pottery Class - Wednesdays 1pm to 3pm

Cariad Craft, an organisation first set up in 2007 to provide access to craftwork for members of the community, has been re-formed as a Social Enterprise to promote social inclusion through access to popular crafts such as Pottery, Watercolour Painting, Card Making and Sewing.

Jan 2015 - The Lift Programme - Continuing to make a Real Difference....

Lift is an ambitious Welsh Government programme to provide, by the end of 2017, 5,000 training and employment opportunities for people living in households where no-one is in work.

The programme is not aimed at those who are temporarily out of work but will focus on those who have spent more than six months out of work or training and who face the greatest barriers to becoming employable, such as young single parents, adults with few or no formal qualifications; people with poor employment records and individuals with disabilities.
